Papers of the Ranieri di Sorbello family and others: this is a collection of thirty-nine portfolios containing documents dating between the 18th and early 20th century, with some older material as well. The papers relate to members of the Bourbon del Monte, Bourbon di Sorbello, Ranieri, Orfini, De Vecchi noble families. The papers cover a wide collection of topics ranging from the Embroidery School founded by Romeyne Robert to the history of the Civitella Ranieri castle. A rich collections of letters, notary acts, pamphlets, diplomas and other material offers the possibility of reconstructing salient moments of the activity of many persons connected to the Ranieri di Sorbellos through personal and family relationships and professional interests.
The Uguccione Ranieri di Sorbello (1906-1969) papers are composed of eleven portfolios, containing important documents of his activities as a journalist, historian and writer.
The de Vecchi papers. The de Vecchi family was a noble family originating in Finale Emilia (Modena). They are related through marriage to the Ranieri di Sorbellos. Of these documents, both in copy and in original, the oldest one dates back from 1488. The collection of papers is enriched by eight parchments: 4 papal briefs dated 1589-1778; three concessions of the duke Alfonso d’Este, dated 1577-1587; and a document related to a the town of Bologna of 1635.
